Avalanche Proof Windows – Your Life Insurance

Unfortunately, wintertime in many cases also means avalanche time. In order to protect oneself properly, Rieder Windows, together with the wood research institute of Austria, developed and produced a worldwide unique, new and improved wood frame window.

According to Hans Kerschdorfer, executive director of Rieder (division woodworking and windows), we are now able to offer windows that are inspected according to OENORM B 5301 (Austrian quality standard), thereby ensuring highest quality and security. In this standard, avalanche danger zones and load classifications are defined.

Windows in the medium load classification, which are used most frequently, are ready to go into production. Additional special windows in the higher and highest load classification are in development. All Rieder Windows are now marked with the corresponding sticker, thereby prompting the owner to keep the window closed during avalanche danger.

Even under extreme conditions, which avalanches are, wood proves once again to possess outstanding characteristics that cannot be surpassed by any other material.
